Patchwork & Quilting

‘Serendipity’ was first set up in 1999 by Frances and Clive. Their passion for patchwork laid the

foundations for the haven that exists today. Myriam started working and teaching in the shop in

2008 but it was after a serendipitous comment to the owners that she was able to take over the

business upon their retirement. Unable to buy the premises, she took ‘Serendipity’ to a newly

established Hannah’s at Seale-Hayne. A year and a very serendipitous visitor later we managed to

move back to Bovey Tracey and into their current home on Station Road. This was where Sunny

joined her mum, Myriam with ‘Past and Presents’ which sold gifts and the most beautiful 1950s

inspired dresses. 4 very successful years passed but towards the end, the internet took its toll

and ‘Past and Presents’ could no longer survive. Luckily the patchwork side of the business was

blossoming so Sunny and Myriam joined forces to create ‘Serendipity - Patchwork and Quilting’, a

mother and daughter team with a serious passion for all things sewing and fabric.

If you would like to make a trip to Bovey Tracey, ‘Serendipity’ is situated at the very bottom of the

town just 50 yards from the Station Road Public Car Park. Conveniently they are right opposite a

fabulous tearoom called ‘Brookside’ who serve fantastic lunches and cakes and next door to

Thomas-The Bakers who are renowned for their delicious low GI bread. Bovey Tracey offers a

wide variety of independent shops and cafes. If you would like to know more about Bovey Tracey
