Patchwork & Quilting

Dear Quilters

You can down load our full brochure with the work shop dates and booking form on the link at the bottom of the page.

Very Best Wishes to you all for a wonderful New Year. We hope you will have lots of time to relax, read books, work in the garden, go on holiday, spend more time with the children/grandchildren/great grandchildren and of course make all the projects you have always wanted to do.

We are looking forward to starting the new year here at Serendipity with lots of new and exciting courses and workshops. Our tutors have come up trumps again with lovely projects and we want to do them all.

Emily’s Bow Clutch is very tempting, using both felt and fabric for the outside and vinyl and netting for the inside. Same for Ruth’s Quilt Medley. We wonder how that would look with a dark background fabric and vibrant prints, hmmmm? Where can we put another cushion made from these gorgeous new Liberty fabrics coming in February? A quillow is always handy in the car, isn’t it? But who needs an excuse to make something from beautiful fabrics either for a loved one or just to please yourself?

The past year has brought us very successful workshops and courses with fun, laughter, lovely finished projects and happy customers, but also a few sad moments. Two of our loyal customers passed away very suddenly in the past few months. Julie has been coming to us for years. A very active, positive and happy lady who has made numerous quilts for friends and family. Not long retired and looking forward to a long and happy retirement. Alas it was not to be. Julie passed away in July after a short stay in hospital. What a sad loss to all who knew her.

Lynne on the other hand was a relative newcomer but she made herself loved by many in a very short time. Sometimes we couldn’t keep up with everything she was doing: knitting, crochet, traveling, baking, going to the gym, looking after her youngest grandson etc. etc. With patchwork and quilting she had found a whole new set of friends and a hobby that could have become a very happy addiction. She was so eager to learn it all and threw herself wholeheartedly in the patchwork and Quilting world. We’d received an e-mail on a Tuesday to say that she wasn’t well and couldn’t attend a Sew Sisters session and on Wednesday she passed away. Such a shock. She was such a lovely, bubbly lady and she will be missed by a lot of people.

On a happier note: we have lots of new fabrics coming in over the next few months. ‘Lemon Tree’, the latest range from Tilda; Cottage Garden from Liberty of London; Anni Down’s ‘To The Zoo’; Lynette Anderson’s ‘Peacock Manor’; Jennifer Paganelli’s ‘Sugar Beach’ and Lori Holt’s ‘Bake Sale 2’ names you might not have heard of before and 2018 will see the return of Lewis & Irene to our shelves. And lots and lots of other ranges that at the moment we cannot even remember…

As always we will have an OPEN DAY to celebrate the release of our brand-new brochure. This time our OPEN DAY will be on Saturday 20th January 10am – 4pm. Some of our tutors will be here to show you what they teach, answer your questions and you will have the chance to see all our samples and book your places for workshops and courses that appeal to you.

2018, bring it on!

With kindest regards from Myriam and Sunny, the Material Girls.
