Saturdays with Sunny and Myriam
28th March (Applique), 2nd May (Machine Embroidery and Quilting), 4th July (Rotary Cutting and Machine Piecing)
10 – 3
£40 a session or book all 3 for just £100.
These classes are for beginners starting out on their sewing journey or those that have been sewing for a while but want to add certain skills to their repertoire.
During the first session we will cover ‘Appliqué’. The act of sewing a shape onto a background. There are many different ways to do applique with no right or wrong, just different results. In this class we will mainly concentrate on blanket stitch and needleturn. Two techniques with a very different end result. Both are done by hand and therefore very relaxing.
In the second class we will cover machine embroidery and quilting. In basic terms; drawing with your sewing machine. Both techniques are very similar but have different uses. We will take you through how to set up your machine, how to move the fabric to get the desired effects and explore the techniques through different patterns and styles. A really fun day and a technique you’ll use again and again.
In the third class we will show you how to use your rotary cutting equipment, whether you’ve never used it before or have been muddling along at home on your own but need some guidance to make the most of all the different rulers. In the afternoon we will move on and use our newly-found cutting skills to cut accurate fabric for machine piecing a patchwork block to take home.
